The Goal Zero Yeti 6000X is a large, solar generator. Not so gigantic that you can’t carry it around, but you get the idea. It’s twice the size of the previous Goal Zero and produces a whopping 2,000W of continuous power, which would effectively run just about anything in an RV.

Better yet, the Yeti 6000X is feature-laden, with 3 charging methods, a lithium-ion battery, WiFi, app controls, an inverter, and plenty of ports and outlets. It can run a 1500W power tool for over four hours. 

There’s no arguing the fact that you’ll get plenty of power from this beast and it’s one of the best, portable, solar-powered generators on the market. If there’s one, major knock against the Yeti 6000X, it’s that you can only expect about 500 cycles before the battery drops to 80% capacity.

In terms of design, the Yeti 6000X hasn’t changed much over its predecessor, the Yeti 3000X. Of course, there’s the notable exception that it is double the power of the 3000X. 

It is a heavy device and one that you’re not going to casually sling over your shoulder as you move about. It includes a 2,000W inverter that has a surge capacity of 3,500W. That’s enough to run most devices in your home and it will run appliances in an RV even better. 

Considering the size of the battery, it has a pretty good charge rate at 10 hours out in the sun and 11 hours if you plug it into the wall. However, if you need a quick top-off, you may want to avoid charging it with your vehicle, as the minimum charge time is 55 hours. 

One of the best features of the Yeti 6000X is the number of ports because there are a lot of them. Fourteen ports mean that you have plenty of plug-in options from just about any type of device that you need to charge or power.

That’s a lot of ports that will convey a lot of power to a variety of devices and appliances. Of course, you can’t run everything on the Yeti 6000X, at least not all at the same time. However, it’s more than just your standard, backup generator. 

Another unique feature is app control. Downloading the Goal Zero Yeti app gives you the capability of completely controlling your Yeti 6000X remotely, and it’s fairly simple to set up. One thing Goal Zero understands about the consumer, is they don’t want complexity. 

It’s good news that the Yeti 6000X comes with its own inverter, not forcing you to go out and purchase one separately. Unfortunately, it’s not a very powerful inverter, considering the fact that it comes with such a powerful generator. 

Also, the inverter isn’t much different from what you get with Goal Zero’s far inferior devices on the Yeti line. Hand-in-hand with the curious inverter choice is the lithium-ion battery that will only withstand 500 cycles before the battery capacity drops to 80%.

That’s a little baffling with a lithium-ion battery. These are probably the best batteries out there in terms of generator power and there are smaller and less effective devices that get more cycles out of their lithium batteries than the Yeti 6000X.

The Gola Zero Yeti 6000X is a great solar battery/generator that can pull heavy duty when you need it to. Despite that, there are a few issues that hold it back, such as a weak inverter and a battery that should have far more cycles in its overall capacity.

Is the Goal Zero Yeti Worth It?

From a capability standpoint, the Yeti 6000X is more than worth it, as it can power several devices/appliances at once, charges fast, and has several ports for a variety of power options. However, it’s exceptionally pricey for a battery that has a low number of cycles before losing much of its efficacy. 

How Long Will The Yeti 6000X Last?

As aforementioned, it will last approximately 500 cycles before the battery capacity is reduced to 80%. That doesn’t mean that you can’t use it anymore, just that it will no longer perform at peak efficiency from that point forward. 

Can Goal Zero Power a Refrigerator?

It can absolutely run your refrigerator. In fact, it can run your refrigerator with more than enough surge watts in the inverter to handle the times when your fridge kicks on and handle other appliances/devices at the same time. 

Why We Like the Yeti 6000X

The Yeti is undoubtedly a power solar generator. We like the quick charging capacity, the included inverter, and the device’s overall capabilities in terms of remote app control and a terrific number of port options. This solar generator can run just about anything at any time.
