There’s a lot of peace of mind that comes from investing in a high-quality portable power generator.
Knowing that you can weather the storm – literally – when the lights go out is a huge boost, especially if you have ever had to go multiple days with no power in the middle of a natural disaster before.
Finding that quality portable power plant, though, can be a bit of an uphill battle.
Not that there are so few options worth investing in out there on the market today. In fact, it’s probably the opposite – that there are so many worthy contenders.
But that’s what makes the Jackery 1000 generator so impressive.
The fact that it stands so far heavy and shoulders above the rest of the competition in as crowded a marketplace as this one is a testament to its capabilities, its value, and its overall utility.
Let’s dig a little deeper into (almost) everything that makes the Jackery 1000 generator so special.

Pros
There are a lot of things to fall in love with when it comes to the Jackery 1000 generator.
- For starters, this portable generator is actually a portable generator! A lot of competing options promise the kind of portability and utility you need in a backup generator system, but none of them are as convenient to use, as lightweight, or as easy to tote around as this one is.
- The whole thing weighs just slightly over 22 pounds which is light enough for almost anyone to maneuver it around.
- Secondly, the fact that this power system can be recharged via multiple power sources – including your car or a solar panel array – is a big boost as well.
- Emergency power systems should have as much built-in redundancy as possible. You never know exactly how your electrical system is going to become compromised after all. Having options available to recharge your generator is a game changer.
- On top of all of that, being able to distribute power safely and efficiently via multiple different methods is another big boost for the Jackery 1000.
- You’ll be able to connect your USB-C devices, traditional USB devices, and hook up multiple appliances via the three traditional AC “pure sine wave” outlet attachments as well.
- There’s even a built-in DC carport that you can use!
- Traditional power output for this unit comes in at about 1000 W, but that can be bumped up to 2000 W for “surge power demands” without any issue at all. You’ll be able to run all kinds of things off of this generator without any issue.
Cons
On the flip side of things, this is not to suggest that the Jackery 1000 generator is all sunshine and roses.
- The overall charging speed for the generator leaves a little bit to be desired.
- When stacked up against competing options with the same kind of capabilities and the same kind of power output it feels like the Jackery 1000 it’s sort of running in the mud at times.
- Some people are going to be happy with the Jackery 1000 taking close to seven hours to go from 0% all the way up to 100%. Most folks, though, are going to wish that that went a little faster – especially when connected to a solar array.
- Other units are definitely faster charging than the Jackery 1000, even if it’s not by all that much. Still, it would be nice to see the folks behind this generator find a way to speed things up at least a little bit.

Quick Function Rundown
The Jackery 1000 is very much a reliable backup power source, regardless of whether or not you’re hoping to use this around the house when the electricity goes out in the winter or using it at a campground when you are “off the grid”.
Foolishly easy to use, this unit is also highly portable. It weighs about 22 pounds (maybe just a little more than that), is easy to swing around, and has a fantastic build quality as well as a legendary reputation for reliability.
The Jackery 1000 works well with solar LED green energy systems via the integrated MPPT solar charging system.
You can also recharge the battery (46+ AH lithium ion battery) with traditional wall outlet power when it’s available or directly from your vehicle via DC charging hookups.

Jackery 1000 Noise Levels
There’s nothing worse than firing up a super loud generator when you need a little bit of power outdoors or in an emergency.
With the Jackery 1000, though, that’s not going to be a big problem.
This isn’t a gasoline powered generator, after all.
Built primarily to run off of 100 W solar panels, this is the kind of generator that “just works” and does its job even when you can’t hear it. You might hear a gentle hum when power is being fed into the generator – or when it is distributing the power it has stored away – but that’s about it.
You also don’t have to worry at all about any noxious fumes or anything else like that with this generator.
Reliability
Reliability is a big piece of the puzzle behind the success of this Jackery 1000 generator, too.
You need to know that your generator is going to work when things are less than ideal – that’s the point of a portable backup power source, after all.
Jackery systems are well-made, well-engineered, and use only the highest quality construction materials across the board.
Usability
The control scheme and overall usability of the Jackery 1000 generator is pretty much dialed in.
The oversized LCD screen gives you all the information you need to know exactly what’s going on “under the hood”. The onboard controls, the clean layout, and the super simple connection system doesn’t take a whole lot to figure out, either.
Charging Speed
When it comes to charging speed the Jackery 1000 leaves a little bit to be desired.
The whole system does take about seven hours to go from 0% charged all the way up to 100% charged.
That’s not the slowest for a solar generator of this size or of this capacity. But it’s nowhere near the fastest, either. You’re definitely going to be leaving this out all day to recharge batteries for sure.
Value for the Money
At the end of the day, most folks want to know that their hard-earned money is well spent on a critical piece of equipment like this.
The value for the money on the Jackery 1000 is off the charts!
The output, the special features, the build quality, and the legendary reputation for durability all make this a very smart investment in your backup power system.

What Can You Power With It?
The list of things you can’t run with the Jackery 1000 would be shorter!
This thing runs pretty much anything and everything you can think of, including:
- A blender for two hours
- An icemaker for 85 minutes
- An electric grill for almost 2 hours
- A mini fridge for 17 hours
- A coffee maker for almost 90 minutes
- A pressure cooker for almost an hour
- 100 phone charge cycles
- A big screen TV for 13 hours continuously
… And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
Best of all, you can keep this solar generator hooked up to a solar array so that the power is being distributed instantly while working on recharging the battery at the same time. It doesn’t get much better than this
FAQs
Yes you could certainly charge a Jackery 1000 with another generator. All you have to do is hook it up via the pure sine wave connection or the DC connection and let it run.
A Jackery 1000 has enough “juice” on board to power a mini fridge for up to 17 hours.
No it will not damage the battery and it is safe to do, which is directly from the Jackery manual guide.
How long does a Jackery 1000 last?
It’s hard to say exactly how long the battery on a Jackery 1000 will last without knowing what is being hooked up. A blender could run for two hours continuously on this charger or you could run LED lights for 76 hours nonstop, for example. See the guide below for more information.

How many solar panels does it take to charge a Jackery 1000?
You can connect as many solar panels as you like to the Jackery 1000 to fill its battery. Most people go with a dual solar panel array, though some like to bump that up to four panels (or more) to speed things up a little bit.
